Freeborn County still at odds in lawsuit against Albert Lea Business

An Albert Lea business and Freeborn County are still at odds over the company’s alleged violations.

Freeborn County filed a lawsuit against the company I-90 Recycling in 2016.

The lawsuit alleges that I-90 Recycling and owner Mike Peterson are continuing to violate ordinances and the company’s conditional use permit.

Peterson’s lawyer says the issue stems from the business expanding its role due to demand for recycling services from other businesses.

The closing of Bridon Cordage resulted in the increased demand and I-90 Recycling took on its old machinery.

Peterson says he hopes to resolve the issue soon and that, "We are doing a recycling program that is beneficial to the county and businesses to keep waste out of landfills."
