Brighter Tomorrows held their annual "Go for the Gold 5K Run and 3K Family Fun Walk" fundraiser Saturday to help families who’ve been touched by childhood cancer.
This is the primary annual fundraiser, and provides the necessary funds to support and sustain their events and programs.
The event is in its 27th year and was formerly called the MacAttack. This year they’re offering the fifth annual "Kids Races".
And while every family’s experience with childhood cancer is different, most families face similar challenges.
"The families that are battling this: when you’re tired and you’re spent, if you haven’t hit that wall you’re going to. Have somebody fight for you, and Brighter Tomorrows will fight for you. I guarantee you that.," said Brian Schroeder, a father whose son suffers from cancer.
The event included a dunk tank to dunk Mayo pediatric doctors, face painting, food and balloon animals.
