The River City Rhapsody Drum and Bugle Corps show is back in Rochester and the bands took center stage at the Rochester Regional Stadium.
With groups from all across the nation and members from across the nation, this year’s show featured some of the best corps in the nation.
Some of the featured performances include the "Blue Stars" from La Crosse, Wisconsin, the "Colt Cadets" from Dubuque, Iowa and "Genesis" from Austin, Texas.
Each group travels more than 12,000 miles each summer putting on shows and competing in 35 events in a span of 60 days.
"Drum corp shows are very cool and they’re very unique, you’re gonna hear a lot of songs, a lot of music you may recognize, but treated in a unique way. We have only brass and percussion out here and so it’s kind of like a marching band show, but much more detailed, it’s like theatre meets marching band meets a symphony," said Blue Stars Corp Director, Russ Gavin.
The corps competing in these shows consist of 150 high school and college aged students, each hoping to improve their skills each time out.
