An altercation between a motorcyclist and the driver of a Pontiac Sunbrid escalated to one of the men being threatened with a firearm.
After a police investigation, 22-year-old Michael Morrill of Hammond, Minnesota was arrested when confronted with the facts of the case. He faces a number of charges, including 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and reckless driving.
It happened Friday night just before 7 o’clock near the Silver Lake pool. The 25-year-old motorcyclist reported that the Pontiac was swerving into his lane, a statement which another witness supported.
The driver of the Pontiac then allegedly pointed a silver large caliber handgun at the victim and drove away.
Police then tracked the Pontiac to an apartment in Northwest Rochester and contacted Morrill through a phone call.
Though Morrill initially denied any involvement, he later admitted to ditching the gun at an address on Creekview Lane in Southwest Rochester after pointing it at the victim.
The Creekview Lane resident was also a passenger in the Pontiac Sunbird at the time of the confrontation. Police say the passenger was "uncooperative" in the investigation.
