Many are embracing the last few days of summer and kicking off the fall season at the Quarry Hill Nature Center’s Fall Festival.
It’s an annual tradition for many Southeast Minnesota families with a record-breaking turnout this year during its opening day.
The event is designed to get families outdoors and immersed in nature.
Visitors were invited to participate in nature themed games, canoe, and learn about animals.
"Word of mouth is always great," said Lori Forstie, Quarry Hill Nature Center Outreach Coordinator. "This is a wonderful park. Our new prairie house is open, people are excited to see that. Our renovations inside are complete. Some people haven’t seen that yet so they’re excited as well. And just the tradition of coming out and being with family and friends and supporting the nature center in this beautiful park."
All proceeds from the festival go toward keeping the center admission free year round.
