Former MCPD secretary arrested on drug charges

MASON CITY, Iowa (FOX47) – A former administrative assistant with the Mason City Police Department is facing two misdemeanor charges for prescription drug possession.

Melinda Severs was placed on leave in September as the MCPD administration began a criminal investigation.
To avoid a conflict of interest, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement assisted with the investigation.

Severs is out of the Cerro Gordo County Jail, awaiting a court appearance. Severs no longer works for MCPD.
