Chefs gather in Mower County to find out who’s the best

AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 47) It was a food lover’s paradise Sunday in Austin, with The Arc Mower County’s 8th annual Taste of Mower County.

The event, at the Austin Conference Center, also hosts live and silent auctions to help raise funds for The Arc, an organization that promotes and protects the human rights of people with disabilities.

13 Local home and restaurant chefs showed off their skills and let the people be the judges of who makes the best appetizers, entrees and desserts.

“They have to vote one item on all three different areas, and so then they’re awarded a plaque for first, second and third place. So it’s kind of a competition and some people have been back year after year. It’s just a fun way to have people get out and support our cause,” said Dawn Helgeson, The Arc Mower County Executive Director.

Helgeson says the amount of support The Arc receives from Mower County each year is just as amazing as the food they get to eat at the event.
