Fillmore County welcomes a new Sheriff

FILLMORE COUNTY, Minn. (FOX 47) – Fillmore County welcomed a new Sheriff after Captain John DeGeorge won twice the amount of votes as incumbent Sheriff Tom Kaase.

In Fillmore County, the Sheriff’s election has been a hot contest.

DeGeorge said he was running to bring a crime prevention program to Fillmore County. He claims his background in investigations during his 21 years of working at the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office will help.

Sheriff Kaase wanted to continue the work he’d done over the past four years of his term.

DeGeorge launched his campaign in January of this year and was endorsed by the Deputies’ Association this summer.
