Two teens arrested for burglarizing property

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – Two teenagers were arrested Wednesday after they were caught with stolen property, including a gun.

A vigilant neighbor and a quick response from Rochester police led to the arrest of 18-year-old Jonathon Carlos Joy and a 17-year-old.

The 911 call first came in around 2 a.m. Wednesday from a home on 36th St. SW.

Police arrived to the scene and saw two people rummaging through unlocked cars.

The two fled after officers found them inside a garage on Willow Heights Dr. SW.

After a short foot pursuit, the two were eventually caught.

According to police, about 15 cars were burglarized. Police also said they recovered a 9 mm handgun, sunglasses, a large knife and some alcohol.

Both faces charges of felony theft of a firearm, misdemeanor theft, tampering with motor vehicles and fleeing on foot.
