MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 47) – A woman is poised to be named the next president of the University of Minnesota.
The Board of Regents has named Joan Gabel, currently the Provost of the University of South Carolina, as the sole finalist in its presidential search.
The 23-member search committee submitted names of three finalists last week after sorting through nearly 70 applicants.
Gabel will next face Minnesotans in various public settings, with the Regents studying the interaction.
The Regents will then gather to vote on whether to offer Gabel the top job in the U of M system which includes the University of Minnesota Rochester campus.
