ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – Less than an hour into the new year, Mayo Clinic Hospital Methodist Campus welcomed Rochester’s first baby born in 2019.
Jackson Zachary Kammueller was born to new parents Bridget Gongora and Zach Kammueller, of Rochester, Tuesday at 12:41 a.m.
He weighs in at 7 pounds, 10 oz., and is 20 1/4 inches long.
His parents say it was love at first sight, though it took longer to meet little Jackson than they anticipated.
His due date was actually Christmas Eve but Jackson apparently decided to wait a bit longer in order to be Rochester’s New Year’s baby.
“We kept telling everybody ‘oh it’s going to be Christmas, oh best present ever,’ you know,” Gongora said. “And then it was the day after Christmas, and then two and then three, and then it’s a week later and we’re like, ‘okay you can come any time now.’ So we’re thinking he was just waiting for 2019.”
It’s been a couple years since Mayo Clinic had the first baby born in Rochester.
Olmsted Medical Center took the honor the last two years.
The Kammueller family says their resolution this year is to cherish every moment with their bundle of joy.
