ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – A quick thinking driver caught a porch pirate in action.

Rochester police said charges are likely to follow after an alert driver spotted something suspicious.

A 53-year-old witness said he saw a woman run to a porch on the 500 block of 10th Ave. SE. Tuesday.

The woman reportedly took a package from the porch and ran back to a vehicle.

The witness took a picture and caught the license plate that he then gave to officers.

The driver also talked to a nearby mailman who confirmed he had just dropped off of a package at that home.

Police found the 30-year-old woman in the car near her home.

Police said the package was not there, but officers found the empty box inside a nearby garbage bin.

No arrests have been made yet, but officers did take a statement.

Inside the package was supposed to be a coat worth more than $400.
