Iowa Democratic Party proposes “historic” changes to 2020 caucuses

DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) – The head of the Iowa Democratic Party has proposed what he calls “historic” changes to the Iowa Caucuses for 2020.

Party Chairman Troy Price says the changes include the introduction of a series of six “virtual caucus”, done by phone or smart device, in the days leading up to the statewide caucuses on Monday, February 3rd.

There are also steps to streamline the realignment of caucusgoers at caucus sites, and the introduction of recount procedures that campaigns can ask for if they can show that the result could affect the number of delegates to the national convention. “These changes will make the 2020 caucuses the most transparent, the most secure, and the most successful caucuses ever,” said Troy Price, Iowa Democratic Party Chairman. “And, give more Iowans a chance to have their say in the presidential selection process.”

Iowans now have 30-days to comment on the proposed changes. To comment, and to read more about the proposed changes, click here.
