Five girls create Boy Scout troop in Houston

HOUSTON, Minn. (FOX 47) – Five girls are teaming up to create a trailblazing group in Houston.

They have established Troop 531, one of the first Boy Scout troops in the area created specifically for girls.

The troop is sponsored by American Legion Post 423.

The girls will be able to work their way towards the prestigious Eagle Scout rank.

Scouting officials said more than 10,000 girls have joined the BSA program nation-wide. 77,000 girls are now taking part in the Cub Scout program for younger kids too.
