ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer and threatening a woman with a knife.
A 62-year-old woman told officials that she was walking to work Tuesday morning when she noticed a man acting erratically.
The woman told police that she ran into the man around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of 6th St. and 10th Ave. SE.
The man reportedly waved a kitchen knife at her and yelled “get away, leave me alone!”
The woman ran and called police and when officers arrived, they recognized the man and were able to get him to drop the knife.
Officials struggled to get 40-year-old Edward Milner into the squad car. He allegedly kicked an officer three times in the chest.
Milner was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
He could face charges for assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct, second degree assault and terroristic threats.
Police reported that Milner had previously been ruled incompetent to stand trial in a separate case.
