NEAR LANESBORO, Minn. (FOX 47) – People in Fillmore County are dealing with water woes.
High water has lead to the closure of State Highway 16, west of Lanesboro.
MnDOT reported that between U.S. 52 near Preston and Fillmore Ave. South in Lanesboro, the highway is closed due to flooding.
Warmer temperatures and the recent snow and rain are all contributors.
MnDOT workers remind people to be smart on the roads. If you see a highway with standing water and cannot see the road, do not drive through it.
“This morning, we had a little bit of rain and rivers came up fast. With this melting snow and high temperatures, it’s really going to bring up the rivers,” said MnDOT Highway Maintenence Employee Dennis Yoder.
“We’ll be dealing with this for a while. We’ll be patient and do the best we can.”
