ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – The city of Rochester is about to be in the national spotlight once again.
Rochester was selected to be apart of C-SPAN’s Cities Tour, which gets producers out of our nation’s capitol and into various cities cross the country.
C-SPAN will be in town all week-long highlighting the city’s history, which will likely focus on the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in the heart of downtown. Local segments recorded throughout the week will air on Book TV (on C-SPAN2, Spectrum channels 85 & 723) and American History TV (on C-SPAN3, Spectrum channels 86 & 724) on April 20th and 21st.
The show’s producers will visit historic sites and interview local historians and authors during their time in town.
“We want to know what went into making the Mayo Clinic what it is today,” said Ashley Hill, C-SPAN Producer and Community Relations Representative. “So we will be talking about that, but we also what to talk about your local authors at your community colleges and university. We also what to talk about your history center here. So we’re talking about the Mayo Clinic but we also what to look at other stories that Rochester has to tell.”
The visit comes six months after Ken Burns’s documentary about the Mayo Clinic aired on PBS.
