Funeral held Wednesday morning for man who died in police custody last week

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – A funeral was held Wednesday morning for the man who died in a Rochester parking lot after a struggle with law enforcement.

A funeral for 39-year-old Albert Dashow was underway at the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home in Rochester Wednesday morning.

According to his obituary, Dashow was a 1998 graduate of Mayo High School and went on to take courses at RCTC, UW Stout and Saint Mary’s University.

He is survived by his parents and his brother.

Police said a traffic stop around 9 p.m. one week ago led to a physical fight when officers tried arresting Dashow in SE Rochester.

Multiple officers responded as back up. Dashow was taken into custody, then died.

POLICE: Man became unresponsive once taken into custody, no weapons used

Police Chief Jim Franklin said no weapons including a taser were used.

There have been no updates this week from the BCA on their investigation into Dashow’s death.
