AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 47) – It was another record-breaking year for “Paint the Town Pink” in Austin, raising funds for Breast Cancer research at the Hormel Institute.
Organizers announced a total of $334,402 raised this year.
That’s $25,000 more than last year.
Paint the Town Pink uses a variety of events, like Plunging for Pink, and Pennies for Pink, to raise funds that go directly to cancer research.
“Everybody knows somebody. We hear it and it sounds like a cliche but it is the truth, we all know somebody,” said Kathi Finley, Paint the Town Pink Director. “And when there’s groundbreaking research being done right here in our community how can we not rally around and support that?”
Since 2011, Paint the Town Pink has raised $1.77 million for the Hormel Institute.
Next year marks the fundraiser’s ten year anniversary, and organizers say they have exciting plans to make it the best year yet.
