EYOTA, Minn. (FOX 47) — It’s officially the start to Memorial Day Weekend in Minnesota and plenty of families are already taking advantage.
The Chester Woods Park Campground is already filled up, full of campers, fires and grilling up burgers.
Everyone eager to have fun and get outdoors with Friday evening’s beautiful weather and the extra day off on Monday.
For some families they’ve been coming out to Chester Woods to camp for years and say they’ve gotten to know plenty of people throughout that time.
“Families from Lincoln K-8 in Rochester, a lot of us meet up here at Memorial Weekend and this has been on going on like 6 years,” said Chester Woods Park camper, Lucas Pierret.
“And the most important thing for us as a family is to get away from cell signal, a little bit away from everything else. So coming out camping is a way we can do that, it’s become part of how we get together,” added his dad, Chris Pierret.
The Friends of Chester Woods Park are also having a hike starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday where they will hike across the park and have a cookout with hot dogs.
