Southern Minnesota town attracting visitors through new program

LE ROY, Minn. (FOX 47) – The town of Le Roy is home to the Shooting Star Trail head which winds along Highway 56, a scenic route which ends a few miles from Austin.

The Le Roy Wheels to Go program allows visitors as well as locals to rent bikes for free.

The new shop expected to only have a few bikes to start with but thanks to grants and donations, have almost 60 bikes for rent.

“People in this town are amazingly generous and active. We have a volunteer base I haven’t seen in bigger cities,” said Axel Gumbel of the Le Roy Economic Development Authority.

Wheels to Go accommodates for those of all sizes and skill levels.

They have three wheeled bikes for people with disabilities and child carriers for those with small children.

Bikes can be checked out from the shop on Main Street on weekends and on weekdays by contacting City Hall.
