ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – A weekly summer tradition in the Med City returns Thursday, but with a new, simpler name.
“Thursdays on First & Third” is now “Thursdays Downtown.”
The Rochester Downtown Alliance made the move ahead of major construction planned next year along Peace Plaza, which has served as the heart of the festival for years.
“We do have to move and pick up our event,” said Katie Adelman, who works at the Downtown Alliance.
“‘Thursdays Downtown’ gives it a little more broad spectrum of where we can host the event next year,” she said.
Adelman said this year’s weekly block party will feature even more live music with about 60 percent of the acts coming from the local area. The food and craft vendors are back hoping for sunny skies and large crowds.
Check out “Thursdays Downtown” every Thursday through August from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., except for the Fourth of July.
