ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – A slow start to the growing season is putting farmers in a challenging situation.
But local farmers are also showcasing what they do have at the Rochester farmer’s market.
Kicking off today, the market is at a new location this year. It’s at the Graham Park campground, which is north of the Olmsted County fairgrounds.
It features between eight and 15 vendors, all who grow their products within 50 miles of Rochester.
A Dodge Center family is one of those vendors.
They say the market helps prepare the next generation of farmers and continue family traditions.
“I think its been passed on from generation to generation,” said John Moenning. “I think I’m the fifth or sixth generation pig farmer, so it definitely means a lot to me for being a farmer.”
The farmer’s market is each Wednesday through September 25th from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The market will be closed during the week of the Olmsted County fair.
