Firefighters respond to garage fire in Southeast Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – A garage fire in Southeast Rochester had firefighters busy Tuesday afternoon.

Five RFD crews responded to the 2900 block of Rose Drive Southeast at 2 p.m.

No one was hurt, but heat from the flames melted lids on nearby trash bins.

The structure is a total loss, but firefighters say the quick response helped minimize the damage to the rest of the property.

“Crews arrived to find a fully involved garage fire with exposure and fire to the house that was close by,” said Chad Kuhlman, a Rochester firefighter. “The fire was quickly extinguished within a matter of two to three minutes.”

Crews are still investigating what caused the fire.
