RST Commission lays out plans for improvements

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – Improvements could be on the way for Rochester International Airport.

The Rochester Airport Commission met to approve a bid to build another passenger loading bridge at RST.

Most of the two point three million dollar project would be funded by an FAA grant, which administrators hope will be approved by the end of September.

The commission is also hoping for a grant to redesign 3800 feet of runway 02/20.

The stretch is in poor shape, a problem which has been exacerbated by an inadequate drainage system.

Airport leaders also discussed the viability of adding a restaurant and gift shop to RST.

There will be an informational meeting at the airport on Tuesday, July 16 in the early afternoon to discuss potential bidders and get public feedback.
