Warm, humid weather returns for the weekend

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Our spell of mild, less humid weather is coming to an end today as typical mid-summer heat and humidity are working its way into the region to round out the week today and look to hang around for quite some time.

Warmer air is flowing into the region today on the backside of the large area of high pressure that brought crisp, mild sun-filled weather to the area on Thursday. Expect plenty of sunshine through the day with thin clouds in the afternoon and a bit of a southwest breeze to pull in that tropical air mass. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s later today, almost 30 degrees warmer than the 50s we experienced earlier today as we woke up to the coolest morning of the month to date.

A weak cold front will approach from the northwest this evening, possibly sparking a few isolated thunderstorms late in the evening. A few of those storms may become strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds possible, but right now it’s only a slight chance of development overall. Low temperatures overnight will be in the mid-60s with a light northwest breeze.

A few more showers and isolated thunderstorms may migrate into the region early Saturday morning, hanging around through the late morning in parts of the area before skies clear off in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s with a light northeast breeze.

Sunday is looking rather warm as well with plenty of heavy humidity in the area to fuel at least a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s with light south winds.

The heat and humidity will dominate all of next week as well, as high temperatures will be in the mid and upper 80s with perhaps a couple of shots at hitting 90 degrees. There will be sparse thunderstorm chances Tuesday and Wednesday with another couple of rain possible by the following weekend.
