ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – Mandy Yu is just ten years old and she’s already accomplished more than most her age. Yu reigns as the 2019 Under 10 Girls’ Singles U.S. National Table Tennis Champion.
Yu trains ten hours a week but she didn’t always take the sport seriously. It started off as a hobby and has now turned into the young star’s profession. “I started when I was six year old, six years old, and, like one year ago I started professional training. But before in the beginning I was just playing for fun,” said Yu.
The Rochester Table Tennis Club is the first Table Tennis Club in the city.
It offers lessons, clinics, and tournaments for all ages.
