Pine County man charged with assault after expired tabs traffic stop

STEWARTVILLE, Minn (FOX47) — A Pine County man was arrested after a traffic stop in Stewartville lead to a deputy being pushed down a flight of stairs, police said.

Police said 20-year-old Tyler Noreen of Brook Park was arrested after a traffic stop on the 400 block of 5th Avenue Southeast. His car had expired tabs, police said.

According to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Noreen refused to obey the deputy and walked into a nearby home.

Police said when the deputy tried to handcuff him, he struggled away, saying “just tase me.” When the officer deployed the taser, Noreen pulled out the barbs. Noreen charged at her, pushing her down a flight of steps and into the basement of the home.

Noreen faces multiple assault charges, as well as obstructing the legal process and misdemeanor fleeing, police said.

The deputy needed stitches on her lip, and is off duty while she recovers from her injuries.
