There are chances for thunderstorms this week with the main threat being early Tuesday morning/afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible before 8 a.m Tuesday morning and another round after 2 p.m. Rainfall accumulations could reach near a quarter to a half inch through Tuesday night. High res. model guidance has been struggling with thunderstorm development for Tuesday afternoon and that will be something we watch over the next 24 hours.
Thunderstorm chances are in the forecast Wednesday afternoon and evening but the severe threat does not look high at this time. A marginal risk has been placed over southeastern Minnesota and we’ll have to wait and see if that gets upgraded in the next 24-48 hours.
Temperatures get extremely muggy and uncomfortable Thursday and through the weekend. Highs Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will range from 88° to 94° across the viewing area. Heat index values will range from 95-105° for that time span. It’s going to be extremely uncomfortable outside and everyone needs to stay hydrated if they’re outside!
