AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) – The Austin Fire Department kicked off its annual fill the boot fundraiser Wednesday afternoon.
For 65 years, firefighters across the nation have been spreading awareness and raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during the Fill the Boot drive.
From 3 p.m. untill 6 Wednesday through Friday the community can find firefighters with boots in hand at the following intersections in town:
- Oakland Avenue East and First Street Northeast
- Fourth Street and First Drive
- Northwest Eight Avenue and 14th Street Northwest
Firefighters will be asking drivers, walkers and any who pass by to make donations to the MDA.
Contributions have helped fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs, such as state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at Mayo in Rochester.
