NEAR ZUMBRO FALLS, Minn. (FOX 47) – After five years, it’s back by popular demand. The Lights at Bluff Valley will illuminate once again this upcoming holiday season.
The show is a mile and a half with hundreds of light and moving displays. The light show first started back in 2001 after the owners attended a “Light up Your Park” event thinking it was about safety. To their surprise they walked into a brightly lit show.
They brought the idea to Zumbro Falls where The Lights at Bluff Valley ran for more than a decade, only going dark in 2010 due to flooding. However a drop in attendance after that lead to the complete closure five years ago. Now, starting this November you can again drive thru the light show, or walk through the light maze and enjoy refreshments.
Bluff Valley Campground Operations Manager Adam Waters says he’s glad to continue the show. “It was just sad to see when people were like oh yeah we really miss it and than you’re like when is the last time you were there, oh we only went once and you know we’re open for like 15 years its like it’s hard to stay open if people don’t continue to come so that’s really what it was if people continue to come we will continue to put it on.”
Waters says the light show people remember is not changing, but other parts of the attraction are still in the early stages of planning. There will be no stage show and buffet this year, but there will be refreshments.
Visitors can go to the light show November 1st through December 22nd, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. $20 will get a car into the show and you can go around as much as you want.
