MN 280 SB closed after two buses collide near State Fair

ST PAUL, Minn. (KARE11) — Minnesota State Highway 280 southbound near Larpenteur Avenue is closed after two buses collided Thursday morning.

MnDOT traffic cameras showed ambulances leaving the scene with victims, although at this time it is unclear as to how many people were hurt. A spokesperson for Regions Hospital confirms they are expecting to receive patients.

The buses that crashed were from Andy’s Charter Service in Little Falls and Lorenz Bus Service. Both companies confirm their buses were involved in the incident.

The southbound lanes are shut down as of 10:46 a.m. MnDOT officials say the closure is expected to last around three hours.

The crash occurred about half a mile east of the fairgrounds, making a bad traffic situation on Day One even worse. Fair officials tweeted that as of 10:30 a.m. all Park & Ride lots were completely full, as was every public parking lot on the fairgrounds. Traffic was bumper to
