UPDATE: RPD identifies driver and deceased motorcyclist from Wednesday crash

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — The Rochester Police Department has identified the driver of the car and the motorcyclist who died in a crash Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the fatal crash at North Broadway avenue and Riverview Heights drive that took place at about 8:10 a.m. The crash involved a Toyota Prius and a motorcycle.

Police said Rodney Dwayne Gates, 28, of Rochester was riding a motorcycle north on Broadway when Emily Mae Hartmann, 22, of Rochester pulled out of Gentling Dental Care and hit the motorcycle. Gates died during the crash.

RPD said there were no obvious indicators of impairment for either person. Police said there are currently no charges, but they have not ruled charges out.

Police said the Gates was not wearing a helmet. The motorcycle belonged to Gates’ acquaintance, police said, and he was borrowing it because he was interested in purchasing it.
