ALBERT LEA, Minn. (FOX 47) – For the second time in two years, the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new executive director.
Today, the chamber abruptly parted ways with current director Rhonda Jordal, who was hired in June of last year.
Chamber staff is taking on new duties and Geri Jensen has been named as interim director. They hope to find a permanent replacement within three months.
“We’re really just looking at someone who can relate to the community with our partners and relate to those businesses that need support,” said board member Kim Nelson. “That’s what the chamber is there for, to support work of all businesses, small, medium and large businesses in Albert Lea and the Freeborn County area.”
The chamber says the departure of Jordal will not disrupt any plans already in place.
Earlier this year, the chamber of commerce approved $20,000 towards revitalizing the downtown area. They hope to increase economic development in Albert Lea through these efforts.
