2 injured with life-threatening conditions in Highway 30 car crash

NEAR STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (FOX 47) – Two people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a car crash in Olmsted County Tuesday night.

Emergency crews responded around 5 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 15 and Highway 30.

Melissa Debus, 26, of Stewartville failed to stop at the intersection and struck Daniel Kropp, 41, of Rochester, according to Minnesota State Patrol who is investigating the crash. The cars rolled into a ditch and caught fire.
Roads in the area were closed for about 3 hours but have since reopened.

Mohamed Nur was inside a nearby home when he heard a loud noise and rushed outside to check on the victims inside the cars.

“What I did was, I kept on asking him, he was hurt, I kept on asking how was he doing, is anybody there? He didn’t know because he was in a hysterical situation…”the two cars were on heavy fire, it started smoking like everywhere. You can see the smoke from far away,” he said.

Nur said he immediately called  911 and that first responders arrived within minutes.

Stewartville Fire, Mayo Ambulance, and MnDOT assisted on scene. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
