ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) – Inside the Lines is back, and this time we’re taking you inside the gridiron! For the next several weeks local athletes will be teaching sports anchor, Naomi Grey all the skills and drills it takes to be one of the gridiron’s finest!
This week she checked back in to Rochester Community Technical College to get some work in with Yellow Jackets Running Back, Israel Lozoya Jr. The rookie back got her stretched out with a warm up then taught her some key drills that’ll help her dominate from the backfield.
- Cone Drill: This drill is essential to learning the perfect way to make hard cuts through route transitions. a cut is a quick change of direction in order to avoid defenders and gain more yardage.
- Quarterback Hand-off: Most rushing plays begin with a hand-off, this is usually the exchange between a quarterback and a running back following the snap. Once the back successfully retrieves the hand-off from his quarterback he attempts to move up field.
