Our bright, balmy fall weather spell continues today with another round of breezy, mild sunshine in store for the area. Look for essentially a repeat of Tuesday’s weather that featured high temperatures near 70 degrees and gusty south winds that will reach 30 to 40 miles per hour in the afternoon. The only difference will be increasing cloud cover late in the day and this evening as a storm system approaches from the west.
Light rain will make its way into the area just before midnight and we’ll have showers through much of the night with mild southeast winds keeping temperatures in the 50s in most spots.
Grayer, more unsettled weather will be the story for our Thursday, but even so, temperatures will be in the mild side thanks to a southeast breeze in the 15 to 25 mile per hour range that will pull in that relative warmth. Look for a few late day and evening thunderstorms as the cold front from that storm system moves into the area.
The big changes in our weather occur Friday as the cold front moves through the area in the predawn hours. Temperatures will start out in the 50s before sunrise but expect those readings to fall into the low to mid-40s for the rest of the day thanks to some brisk northwest winds behind the cold front. There will be a little morning rain, but only a small chance of showers in the afternoon and evening.
As the storm system wobbles toward the Great Lakes over the weekend, some energy will slide in from the northwest, likely generating a few scattered rain and snow showers in the area for both Saturday and Sunday, but as it stands now, no accumulation is expected in our area. High temperatures for both days will be in the lower 40s with northwest winds, especially on Saturday, keeping wind chill values in the 20s to low 30s. Southwest winds behind the departing storm system may reach 40 miles per hour at times on Saturday.
Next week is looking a bit drier with a slow warming trend that will take us from the mid-40s to the 50s with increasing sunshine.
