A benefit was held for a couple involved in a car crash

KASSON, Minn. (FOX 47) — Community members, family and friends packed the Holy Family Catholic Church in Kasson Saturday morning, for a benefit on behalf of Paul and Karla Fischenich.

A team of organizers held the benefit to raise money for the couple after a car crash sent them both to the hospital.

On May 3rd a man driving a truck hit the drivers side of the Fischenich’s truck, sending the truck to spin and flip. See our initial coverage here.

Five months later and the couple is still recovering.

One of the organizers, Amanda Johnson said they wanted to hold the benefit to alleviate some financial burden and celebrate with the Fischenich’s.

“We are hoping to raise a lot of money to help with some of the financial costs, but we are also hoping that this will be a time to celebrate and as you can see our theme is “Choose Joy” so we wanted to celebrate with them that they are here and they are recovering and just celebrate that time with them.”

More than a hundred people enjoyed lunch, a silent auction, live music and a bake sale. Organizers hope to reach their goal of raising $10,000.
