Authorities release new details in Rochester crash that caused hundreds to lose power

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — Authorities have released new information about a serious crash involving car hitting a power pole in Northeast Rochester early Tuesday.

According to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Amber Falk of Cannon Falls was southbound on Hadley Valley Road Northeast just before 5 a.m. when she lost control and hit the utility pole.

The pole came down on the driver’s side of her Ford Taurus.

Deputies said Falk was able to get to a house nearby to seek help and she laid down there while emergency crews responded.

Deputies do not believe she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

People’s Energy Cooperative reports that 242 customers lost power for about three and a half hours.
