Albert Lea sewers make quilts for a cause

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (FOX 47) - Members of Albert Lea's sewing groups held a block party at ABest Sew and Vac. The blocks refer to patch blocks that will go on quilts made to honor and comfort veterans who have served our country.

Partnering with the group, Quilts of Valor, the volunteers helped meet the needs for 4,000 veterans who have requested the quilts.

"I think it's an honor to them," said event coordinator Marsha Langseth. "A number of the ones we've done for Vietnam veterans who have said 'Thank you, I finally feel like I'm home.'"

The foundation has awarded over 240,000 quilts to veterans.
