POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Proposed jury instructions in the Cristhian Rivera murder trial are due to a judge before January 22.
Rivera is charged with first-degree murder in the death of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts.
His trial is set for February 4 in Woodbury County District Court.
According to court documents filed in Poweshiek County, attorneys on both sides will need to file all pretrial motions in the case by January 22.
The judge is still considering a motion to suppress Rivera's statement to police that he had stabbed Tibbetts to death.
His lawyers argue those statements should be not be allowed because he was not read his Miranda rights.
