Mower County non-profit organization benefits from local employees’ generosity

AUSTIN, Minn. (FOX 47) - Many businesses have holiday fundraising campaigns but one partnership in Austin has a history of long-standing success.

Quality Pork Processors presented a $139,000 check to the United Way of Mower County Wednesday afternoon.

The company's employees have pledged more than $639,000 over the past years.

"The employees give. They are invested in their community," said Quality Pork Processors campaign manager John Berglund. "They are invested in their neighbors. They want to help and it shows."

"This obviously shows that the employees are really inspired and did take action," said United Way of Mower County director Molly Lanke. "The whole county will feel the effects so we're really excited and happy."

Berglund credits some of the employees' generosity with a friendly competition they have with Hormel for fundraising.

The money raised will go towards 54 programs in the county that United Way run with the support of 25 agencies. It supports programs that address education, financial stability, health and basic needs.
