ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Kemps announced plans Tuesday to discontinue operations at its Rochester manufacturing facility.
The shutdown will be on June 30, 2020 and will affect 125 employees.
Kemps says it will work with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to help them through this transition.
The decision comes after Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI), announced plans in November of last year to suspend its own operations and sell the property. Kemps had been leasing part of the facility.
Kemps says its manufacturing facility in Rochester has been in operation for more than 60 years and produces a variety of milk products.
The closure does not impact Kemps’ Rochester ice cream manufacturing facility.
“Business decisions that impact people’s lives are difficult,” said Greg Kurr, president and chief executive officer at Kemps.
