Police: Rochester man arrested after sexually assaulting woman in parking lot

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) -- Police said a Rochester man was arrested Saturday after sexually assaulting a woman in the Cub Foods parking lot.

Rochester Police said the 21-year-old victim was loading groceries into her car around 10:30 p.m. at the Rochester Cub Foods. The victim told police she realized a man was standing close to her.

Police said the victim described the man as being muscular. He reportedly told her he worked at a gym. She said he first showed her his abdominal muscles, then grabbed her and reportedly forced his hands down her pants. Police said he also tried to lick and bite her and tried to pull her shirt up. The man reportedly told the victim the had been doing cocaine and asked if she wanted some.

Police said a woman in the parking lot saw what was going on and yelled and told the man to stop. Police said the man then got into a vehicle driven by someone else and drove away.

According to RPD, the woman gave a detailed description of the man and police remembered him from earlier in the day when they saw him the area.

They were able to determine the man was Joshua Snelling, 43, of Rochester. Snelling was found at a mobile home off of Marion Road and was arrested. Police spoke with his friend and the friend confirmed Snelling had also been approaching other women earlier in the day. He is facing 4th degree criminal sexual misconduct charges.
