Less humid, but still unsettled today
Cooler, drier, less humid air is flowing into the region today on the heels of the cold front that triggers widespread strong thunderstorms on Tuesday. A little energy riding along the backside of that cold front will produce clouds and some light rain showers that will spread across the area through the mid morning to mid afternoon hours. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible south of I-90 in the midday hours, but severe weather isn't expected. Sunshine will break through late in the afternoon and we'll enjoy abundant sunshine for the final few hours of the day to help temperatures climb into the upper 70s in most spots.
Warmer air returns for the end of the week
High pressure will move in from the west for Thursday, bringing bright, warm sunshine to the area. A slight southwest breeze will pull in warmer air, helping temperatures climb quickly from the 50s in the early morning hours to the lower and middle 80s in the afternoon.
Warmer air will build in for Friday with rich humidity flowing northward into the area on a slightly gusty south breeze. We'll have a fair amount of sunshine during the day, but a few isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible later in the day and evening. High temperatures will be in the mid and upper 80s and heat indices will be near 90.
A hot and humid weekend
We'll not only have to deal with some of the warmest weather of the season Saturday, but also possibly the heaviest humidity of the season as well. We'll have plenty of sunshine in the area until late in the afternoon and evening when thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of a cold front that will be approaching from the northwest. A few of those storms may become severe toward the end of the day, fueled by that rich humidity. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s with heat indices in the mid to upper 90s.
A few isolated thunderstorms will be possible Sunday with a little more sunshine and slightly less humidity in the area behind the weekend cold front. High temperatures Sunday will be in the upper 80s with heat indices in the lower 90s.
