Police ask public for information after explosion in Rochester breaks windows

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) -- Authorities are asking the public for information about an explosion that happened in Rochester early Monday morning.

Authorities said Rochester police officers responded to reports of an explosion in the 900 block of 9th Street SE at about 2:30 a.m.

An object had reportedly been placed in a tree that exploded. Authorities said the explosion caused minor damage to the tree and broke windows on two homes in the area.

Rochester Police Department and ATF are investigating the incident. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Rochester Police Department at 507-328-6800 or to leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
