A cool, fall-like start to the week, but summer warmth is on the way

Ted 7 Day Fox

A cool, but pleasant Monday

Cool, Canadian air is flowing into the region today ahead of a strong area of high pressure that is settling in from Manitoba, making for a September-like start to the workweek. Expect plenty of sunshine during the day with a fair amount of puffy, fair-weather cumulus clouds and a brisk, cool north winds. High temperatures will be around 70 degrees which is ten degrees below the seasonal average.

We'll have another clear and cool night tonight with evening temperatures in the mid and upper 60s as the full moon rises in the east. The August full moon is known as the "Sturgeon Moon" and also the "Green Corn Moon" and it will be rising at 9:00 PM, exactly half an hour after sunset. Overnight lows will be in the mid and upper 40s, similar to the temperatures we experienced early this morning.

A mild midweek

We'll enjoy quiet sunshine again Tuesday under high pressure that will be crossing the heart of the area. High temperatures will be in the lower 70s with a light northwest breeze. Wednesday will be a little breezier and a bit warmer thanks to those south winds. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s with increasing clouds and a slight chance for a few late afternoon and evening spotty rain showers in the area.

Warmer with rain chances late in the week

A disturbance will move into the region Thursday, bringing a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day with a few isolated leftover storms possible Friday. Temperatures will be a bit more seasonable with a touch of humidity also building into the region toward the end of the week. High temperatures will make it to the much more August-like lower 80s by Friday.

A warm and humid weekend

A series of weak disturbances will bring additional chances of isolated thunderstorms over the weekend with abundant sunshine and typical early August humidity in our weather picture. High temperatures will be in the mid and upper 80s over the weekend meaning we'll actually be a few degrees above the seasonal norm, a far cry from the cool weather we have in the area to start the week.
