Isolated thunderstorms today
A weak disturbance from the west is headed in our direction today, bringing a chance for a few showers and thunderstorms for the late morning and afternoon hours. Expect occasional sunshine throughout the day with high temperatures in the lower 80s and a slight south breeze. A few of those approaching storms may become strong to severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts possible, but widespread severe weather isn't expected.
Scattered storms for the end of the work week
We'll have occasional sunshine with a few scattered thunderstorms Thursday, especially for the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the lower 80s and a slight south breeze that will work to draw in heavier humidity through the course of the day.
Storms, then a cool down for the weekend
Warm, humid air will continue to build into the region for Friday ahead of an approaching cold front. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s with heat indices in the mid 80s. A few late afternoon and evening thunderstorms will be possible Friday, some of which may become strong to severe, but as it stands right now, a widespread severe threat isn't expected. Those showers look to produce a quarter to half an inch of much-needed rain, potentially the best chance for appreciable rainfall in the next several days.
A few scattered thunderstorms will be possible Saturday along and just behind the cold front with occasional sunshine breaking through and high temperatures will be in the lower 80s.
Cooler, drier air will blow into the region Sunday in the wake of the cold front that will impact the early part of our weekend. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s Sunday afternoon, potentially starting a trend of cooler than average weather that will continue into next week.
A taste of September weather next week
High pressure from Canada will settle int the region for the first half of next week, bringing bright, cool, crisp weather to the area. High temperatures will be in the low to mid-70s through next Wednesday with overnight lows in the 40s to lower 50s. Temperatures will eventually warm to more seasonable levels by the following weekend.
