Police investigating Wabasha grain bin death

WABASHA, Minn. (FOX47) — Police are investigating after man’s body was found in a grain bin in Wabasha on Monday.

According to a news release from the Wabasha Police Department, police responded a little before 7 p.m. to a report that a man was possibly missing in a grain bin at Gerken’s Feed and Grain.

Police said the man was identified as 67-year-old John Evers of Wabasha, who was an employee at Gerkens.

Police said rescue efforts were made to cut open the grain bin to search for Evers, and he was found in the bin and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were reportedly assisted by Wabasha, Kellogg, Lake City and Zumbro Falls fire departments.

The investigation is ongoing.
