UPDATE: RPD gives update on Gates of Rochester fight, stabbing

UPDATE 9 a.m. : The Rochester Police Department has provided more details on the fight that led to a stabbing at the Gates of Rochester apartments. Police responded to the fight around 11:30 p.m. on Monday in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Police said about 20 men were present.

Someone reportedly said they were going to get a gun. Police said people involved in the fight were crashing cars into other cars. Police said they saw a gray car attempt to leave the parking lot, and they pulled the car over. There were four people in the car. A man got out, and kicked a handgun under the car, RPD said. Police reportedly searched the car and found a small amount of cocaine.

RPD said Mohamed Mohamed, 25, of Rochester, was arrested in relation to this incident. Police said he kicked the gun under the car and that the cocaine belonged to him. Mohamed is facing charges of possessing a gun without a permit and drug charges.

Rochester Police said shortly after the traffic stop, Olmsted Medical Center called them to report a stabbing. Police said a 21-year-old Rochester man was at the hospital being treated for two non-life threatening stab wounds. RPD said the man was injured at the Gates of Rochester. He told police he was stabbed when he went outside to break up the fight.

A 21-year-old woman who accompanied the man to the hospital was found in a car in the parking lot of the hospital. She was arrested on outstanding felony assault warrants. Another woman involved in the fight was reportedly pepper sprayed and was also at OMC. She refused medical treatment and left the hospital.

There have been no arrests made in relation to the stabbing.


ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX47) — More violence has been reported at the Gates of Rochester apartment complex.

According to police, a large fight led to an apparent stabbing on Monday night.

Police responded to the apartment complex around 11:30 p.m. where the fight took place. Police said someone yelled about being stabbed and someone else mentioned a gun.

Later, a stabbing victim and a pepper spray victim showed up at Olmsted Medical Center, according to police.

Police also said they stopped a vehicle and arrested one man for having a gun.

Police said this is an active investigation.
